A preview of Canada’s stamps for 2008 with Yves Piché, Manager Retail Product Services, Canada Post Corporation. Yves will show the designs, share the stories and background info to some of the stamps in the 2008 program. Q&A session to follow.

At the Youth Workshop, Collecting Philatelic Elements and Non-philatelic Material on the Theme of Hockey with Kon W. Sokolyk, Olympic thematic collector. Kon will show many items from his extensive collection of hockey stamps, covers, stationery, post marks and more, to motivate experienced and youth collectors to join in the excitement of thematic collecting.

Thirty Years of Building Philatelic Collections for Canada. Cimon Morin, Library and Archives Canada, will use PowerPoint to show the extensive research material from the Archives on-line that is available to collectors and writers.

The Canadian Aerophilatelic Society will hold a members’ meeting to discuss Society work and to hear presentations on various air mail topics. Guests welcome.

The B.N.A.P.S., Golden Horseshoe Regional Group, will hold a meeting with a presentation, Modern Canadian Coil Definitives, die cut varieties by Jim Watt. Jim’s extensive research and writing on this challenging area of modern coils will be of great interest to both general collectors and specialists.
Guests are welcome.

Judge’s Critique: The jury for this exhibition, chaired by Doug Lingard, will review the awards and make comments about this year’s exhibition.

Judging Seminar: J. J. Danielski, international judge and exhibitor, will present to prospective, apprentice and experienced judges his experiences and advice on the topics: becoming a judge, how to judge, how to prepare for judging in today’s demanding exhibitions and how to approach the craft of judging and researching.

CAPEX 2012: Is it going to happen? Peter MacDonald, Festivals and Events planner, Ottawa. will share his preliminary business plan for holding a CAPEX in Canada in 2012. The involvement of FIP, the fundraising initiatives, sponsors and dealer involvement must begin soon. A Q&A session will follow.

Mourning Stamps and Covers Club will hold its first meeting in Canada for members of this recently-formed organization. Members will share items from their collections. The program will include a presentation by Leon Matthys of his display involving covers connected in unique ways to a local cemetery. Guests are welcome

Scouts on Stamps will hold a meeting of the Maple Leaf (Canada) Unit of Scouts International to share and discuss the many initiatives by collectors celebrating 100 Years of Scouting. Guests are welcome.

The RPSC Judging Program David Piercey, Chairman of the Judging Program will discuss the many challenges to the growth and development of the judging program and will present some possible solutions.
